Award Nominations


Each year Working Together gives out three awards to businesses that have shown outstanding commitment to employing people with disabilities. We seek nominations for these awards, and encourage businesses to self-nominate.

  • Business Leadership Award

    This award is for larger Maine businesses (50 or more employees) that have shown innovation and commitment in employing people with disabilities. This award is given to businesses that have demonstrated a company-wide commitment to furthering employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Previous recipients include MEMIC, Hannaford Brothers, and Kohl's (Biddeford).

  • Small Business Leadership Award

    This award is for smaller Maine businesses (fewer than 50 employees) that have shown innovation and commitment in employing people with disabilities. This award is given to businesses that illustrate a growing and continued commitment to furthering employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Previous recipients include Wild Oats Bakery and Café (Brunswick), Al's Auto (Medway), and Aroostook Center Mall (Presque Isle).

  • Workforce Achievement Award

    This award is given to Maine businesses that have shown a strong commitment to either significantly increasing the number of people with disabilities within the workforce or employing people with disabilities for the first time. This award is also known as the "Just Do It" award and is intended to credit an employer that eagerly and enthusiastically begins diversifying its workforce by employing people with disabilities. Previous recipients include Stonwall Kitchen, Bates College, and Access Auto & Lincoln Rental (Lincoln).

Applications Must be Submitted by September 7th.

Awards will be presented On September 28th, 2010.


The selection committee is comprised of three individuals from Working Together member businessess (two from the private sector, and one from the Maine State Government).

Award Recipients will be notified
BY September 21, 2010.
