Can diversity hiring help my business? “Yes!” says April Clark, Vice President & Regional Director of Manpower Inc., a leader in the employment services industry.

Employee retention and morale are critical to all successful businesses. “We are known in the community as a place where one can get a good job, regardless of ethnicity, disability, age or gender,” says Clark.

“Our diversity hiring practices boost our bottom line – our employees represent their community demographically and the employers we work with know that’s good for business. We place more candidates, better and faster than our competitors because we have a diverse pool of employees.”

To support a diverse workforce, Manpower offers diversity awareness education. It also has a Corporate Diversity Council made up of a crosssection of employees from entry level to director level, an Executive Diversity Steering Council, and TeamWorks, which provides employees the opportunity to volunteer and serve as mentors for diversity organizations.

“Manpower has a long history as an organization that appreciates and respects individuals; it’s a vital part of our business. We provide an environment in which all employees are able to perform and present their best in the workplace. Employing individuals with a wide variety of backgrounds, disabilities, and cultural experiences, is a key component of our business model,” says Clark.

Manpower encourages others to create a diverse workforce by partnering with organizations such as Workforce Investment Boards, the US Department of Labor, the NAACP, the Diversity Hiring Coalition of Maine, and Working Together.
